Karnataka Style Chitranna Recipe | Easy Lemon Rice in 15 Minutes

 


🍋Lemon rice, also known as Chitranna, is a simple and flavorful South Indian dish. This Karnataka style lemon rice is quick to prepare and perfect for lunch box or a light meal. With the freshness of lemon and the crunchiness of peanuts, this recipe is both tasty and comforting.


🥗 Ingredients (For 2 Members)

1 cup cooked rice (cooled)

1 lemon 

2 green chillies (slit)

1 small onion (finely chopped)

Few curry leaves

2 tablespoons peanuts

1 tablespoon urad dal

1 tablespoon chana dal

1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds

1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds

2 tablespoons oil

1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder

Salt as per taste

Fresh coriander leaves (chopped)

👩‍🍳 How to Make Lemon Rice (Chitranna)

Heat oil in a pan.

Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.

Add cumin seeds, urad dal, chana dal, and peanuts. Fry until they turn golden and crunchy.

Add curry leaves and green chillies. Fry for a few seconds.

Add chopped onion and sauté until it becomes soft.

Add turmeric powder and mix well.

Now add cooked rice and mix gently.

Add salt as per taste and mix everything well.

Turn off the flame and squeeze fresh lemon juice.

Finally, garnish with coriander leaves and mix lightly

Tips💡

Always add lemon juice after turning off the flame to keep the fresh taste.

Use cooled rice to avoid mushy texture.

Peanuts add nice crunch, so don’t skip them.
