Today I am sharing a simple and tasty peanut red chutney recipe that goes perfectly with dosa and idli. This chutney is quick to make and full of flavor😋.
Peanut red chutney is a simple and delicious South Indian side dish that pairs perfectly with dosa and idli. This chutney is made with roasted peanuts, lentils, onion, and tomato, giving it a rich, nutty, and slightly spicy flavor.
Ingredients
½ cup peanuts
1 tablespoon chana dal
1 tablespoon urad dal
1 large onion, chopped
1 tomato, chopped
1–2 garlic cloves
2 dried red chilies
1 tablespoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
Salt to taste
Water as required
For Tempering
2 tablespoons oil
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
A few curry leaves
Step-by-Step Preparation
#Heat a pan on medium flame. Add peanuts, chana dal, and urad dal. Roast them until they turn golden brown and aromatic.
#Add dried red chilies and fry for a few seconds.
#Now add chopped onion and garlic. Sauté until the onion becomes soft and slightly transparent.
#Add chopped tomato and cook well until it becomes soft and mushy.
#Turn off the flame and allow the mixture to cool completely.
Transfer the cooled mixture into a blender. Add red chili powder, salt, and a little water. Blend it into a smooth chutney by adding water as needed.
Tempering (Tadka)
Heat oil in a small pan. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
Add curry leaves and fry for a few seconds.
Pour the tempering over the chutney and mix well.
Serve this tasty peanut red chutney with hot dosa or soft idli for a perfect breakfast or snack.
